DAY 01

AIRPORT / HABARANA

Ayubowan and welcome to Sri Lanka! You will be received by a representative of Yathra Travels at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Subsequently, your comfortable transition to Habarana will take place immediately.

DAY 02

HABARANA / SIGIRIYA / DAMBULLA / HABARANA

After having breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya

Sigiriya massive rock in the green scrub jungle. A well-planned monastic complex included caved temples, bathing pools, lovely ponds and Asia’s oldest surviving landscaped gardens. Today Sigiriya is famous for its frescoes painted in the pocket of the rock. Dambulla Rock Temple- was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and you find different sections of the cave built by different kings from the 1st Century B.C. to the 14th Century A.D. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

DAY 03

HABARANA / POLONNARUWA / HABARANA

After having breakfast, proceed to Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa, which is founded in the 10th Century A.D. This ancient city is considered as a well-planned archeological site in the country. Participate at a Buddha puja at the Gal Viharaya with the assistance of a Buddhist Monk. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared a world heritage site.

DAY 04

HABARANA / ANURADHAPURA

After breakfast, checkout and proceed to Anuradhapura Ancient City.

Anuradhapura an ancient capital of Sri Lanka where is the most important 8 temples called the Atamastãna is located. Arrive at the Sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree which is believed to be the world’s oldest tree. The Sri Mahabodhi Tree is grown from a sapling from the original Bodhi tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. The Bodhi sapling was brought to Sri Lanka in the 3rd Century B.C. by the Bhikkuni Sangamitta, the daughter of the Emperor Asoka of India.

DAY 05

ANURADHAPURA/ MIHINTALE / AVUKANA /ANURADHAPURA

Recharge with a scrumptious breakfast and warm cup of tea. You will spend the day discovering the wonders of Tea Hills.

Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is the site of the meeting between the Arahanth Buddhist monk Mahinda (son of Emperor Asoka in India) and King Devampiyatissa, which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

DAY 06

ANURADHAPURA/ YAPAHUWA / NEGOMBO

After breakfast checkout from the hotel and proceed to Yala National Park. The ruined walls of Yapahuwa form a rough semicircle. The ends join the foot of the high steep-sided rocky granite outcrop. The outer fortification, an earthen rampart which extends to about a mile is about 20 feet in height. Over the rampart are the ruins of a brick wall that was erected to protect the interiors. Around the rampart was a moat.

Access to the fortress was by means of the three gates that were connected to three causeways. Within this rampart was an inner fortification: a stone wall, 12 feet in height and about 500 yards long with a moat outside it and with two gates.

DAY 07

NEGOMBO/ AIRPORT

As all good things must come to an end, after breakfast at the hotel checkout and proceed to Bandaranaike international airport for the departure.
